Sable in long coat only, called Wild Boar in smooths and wires.
Wild boar dogs have individual hair strands that are banded
with three or more different colors... cream, red, gray, black.
Wild boar dogs often appear to have dark 'saddles' on their backs.
The wild boar coloration appears primarily in wirehair, but is also seen on smooth coats.
Sable dogs have individual hair strands that are two different colors...
a base color (usually red) at the root progressing to black at the tip.
Sables appear to look like a black and tan at first glance.
Many dark shaded reds are mislabeled sable.

Lady is rather unique.
She is a chocolate based
Red Sable.
In the belly shot
(she was pregnant) you can see the
hair is banded with light under
w/darker tips. The chocolate
replaced the black for the Sable
effect. Very cool. Clickable pics.
